Media Hack Collective, publisher of The Outlier, is preparing for growth and is offering a three-month, paid internship for a junior data journalist interested in working on meaningful projects that have broad impact.

What you will learn and do:
- Find or create data sets that are African or about African issues
- Analyse data sets to unearth the interesting information they contain
- Use data to tell compelling stories.
- Create impactful data visualisations.
- Collaborate with a team of developers and journalists to produce high-quality digital content.
What You Need:
- A deep curiosity about the world around you and a desire to make it better.
- Above average problem-solving skills – you love puzzles and finding patterns in things.
- A university or college degree (any degree, it doesn’t have to be data science, but you must have done maths to matric).
- An ability to write a coherent narrative in English, in other words, you’re a good storyteller.
- Basic spreadsheet skills or a willingness to learn them quickly.
- An understanding of basic statistics is an advantage.
Position Details:
